Trump Media & Technology Group, the entity behind Truth Social, has recently reported a significant loss of $238 million during the second quarter. This comes as the company redirects its efforts toward its primary focus on social media, having previously ventured into areas like cryptocurrency. Despite the loss, the company saw its revenue more than double from the previous year, reaching $1.7 million.
Under the leadership of its new CEO, Kevin McGurn, Trump Media is prioritizing its core social media operations while still pursuing some selected projects, one of which includes a planned merger with the nuclear fusion company TAE Technologies. This strategic shift underscores the company’s renewed commitment to its foundational business in social media.
Adding to its portfolio of services, Trump Media has launched Truth API, a subscription-based service designed for financial firms that seek early access to posts from Donald Trump and other high-profile users of Truth Social. This service is priced between $60,000 and $100,000 monthly and has already attracted 10 clients, mainly high-frequency trading firms eager to gain a competitive edge.
Financially, Trump Media ended the quarter with over $400 million in cash and short-term investments, alongside approximately $1.2 billion in bitcoin and related assets. The company also carries about $1 billion in debt through convertible notes that are set to mature in 2028. These figures highlight the company’s substantial financial engagements and its strategic positioning within both the social media and broader financial arenas.
