Lidl Hungary has inaugurated its largest warehouse in the country, a new logistics center located in Kiskunfélegyháza, following a significant investment of nearly 60 billion forints, equivalent to approximately €162 million. This state-of-the-art facility spans over 83,000 square meters and is set to bolster the company’s supply chain by servicing around 70 stores. The opening of this center has also generated more than 400 new jobs, with plans to recruit an additional 50 employees soon.

The facility is equipped with 194 loading docks and includes a refrigerated section covering 24,000 square meters. It is designed with sustainability in mind, featuring energy-efficient systems such as a 9,000-square-meter rooftop solar installation. Additionally, the logistics center utilizes waste heat from its refrigeration systems to provide underfloor heating, showcasing Lidl’s commitment to eco-friendly operations. Surrounding the site, a 10,000-square-meter biodiverse green area has been developed, further enhancing the environmental impact of the project.

With this new logistics hub, Lidl aims to enhance its nationwide supply network, facilitating the distribution of approximately 4,500 pallets of goods each day. This strategic expansion is pivotal for Lidl, which currently operates 220 stores across Hungary, sourcing nearly 60% of its products from local suppliers. The new center is expected to play a critical role in supporting the retailer’s growth and strengthening its domestic market presence.

The opening of this logistics center marks a significant milestone for Lidl Hungary, as it not only enhances operational efficiency but also reinforces the company’s commitment to the Hungarian market. Through this investment, Lidl is poised to continue its expansion and further integrate sustainable practices into its operations, aligning with broader corporate goals of reducing environmental impact while meeting the growing demands of its customer base.
